Meet the Pastors
Ed King is the founder and senior pastor of Redemption Church, a thriving, growing church located in Knoxville, Tennessee. In addition to pastoring and supervising the church staff, Dr. King is president of the Power of the Word television outreach ministry. The show is broadcast nationally and internationally with access to over 1 billion viewers. He resides in Knoxville along with his wife and Co-Pastor, Nora, and their daughter, Laren. Dr. King has done extensive travel in over 60 countries, teaching and preaching the gospel, as well as conducting leadership conferences and evangelistic meetings around the world. He has ministered in large crusades where thousands have received salvation and healing. His strong anointing to teach faith has encouraged and strengthened many in the body of Christ. Pastor King is known to many as a pastor’s pastor and has great insight into church life. He has also been instrumental in helping to plant various new churches.
Dr. King’s knowledge and experience in church leadership has resulted in him teaching and training on leadership in many different settings. These teachings are valuable not only in the church setting, but in all areas of life. God has given him wisdom and insight in helping people with personal finance. He has authored three books: “Beyond Faithfulness Into Loyalty”, which is being used by pastors and Bible Schools, “Cause & Effect”, which teaches us on staying free from the curse, and “How to be Twice as Happy”, which is also used in Bible schools.
Nora King was born and raised in Knoxville, Tennessee. As the daughter of a Baptist preacher she was taught to love and serve the Lord. She came to Jesus Christ at the age of 13 but found that her relationship with God was shallow. After rededicating her life at a Billy Graham Crusade as a young adult, she gained a strong desire to know the Lord in a deeper way. Her decision to seek God opened a door for her to have a more intimate relationship with Him through the baptism of the Holy Spirit, which drastically changed her life. Nora’s husband, Ed, received God’s call into the ministry after eight years of marriage. Being brought up as a “preacher’s kid”, Nora knew the hardships and challenges that they would face, but she also knew that God’s hand was on her husband so together they took a step of faith. Later she realized that there was a call to ministry upon her own life as well and so Nora was ordained in 1985 by Lester Sumrall. Now God uses her and her husband together as a ministry team.
Ed and Nora founded Redemption Church International in Knoxville, Tennessee in 1978, where Nora is the co-pastor. This local church is a strong, thriving New Testament church that places special emphasis on the truth of the scripture, harvesting the world, training each believer to use their influence for Christ Jesus and developing leaders in the Body of Christ.
Nora holds a Bachelor of Arts in Theology from Zoe University and has spent many years in intense study of leadership principles. In 2010 she released a book entitled “30 Days to a Better Prayer Life” which has been widely accepted across denominational lines, used as a Bible study guide and has even been distributed at the United Nations. She has been featured on several television programs, both regionally and nationally, sharing about prayer. She has traveled throughout the world ministering God’s love and has seen God’s miraculous power in manifestation through the gifts of the Spirit, physical and emotional healing and the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
